The Mantenga Nature Reserve camp offers lodge-like accommodation with 26 cottage or cabin rooms. The lower level rooms near the river are all of brick and mortar construction with thatched roofs, whilst the upper level units are suspended on wooden decks, with a combination of wooden walls, thatched roofs and brick and mortar ablution facilities.
In all honesty the furnishings in these rooms belong in a 5-star hotel, and are seldom experienced in a nature reserve camp. Heavy tweed curtains, quality linen, beautiful Nguni skin rugs, leather sofa's, dark wood wardrobes, writing desks and coffee tables and decor that is in every essence classic and luxuriously Africa characterise the place. Very modern toilets and showers that boast private views into the surrounding forest round off the room facilities.
All camp rooms sleep two persons with either a double bed, or two single (twin) beds in each.
Two of the rooms are could be considered familyor executive rooms, being larger and more spacious and equipped with additional facilities such as bar fridge, double-sleeper couch and have a bath in addition to the standard showers.
Most cottages comprise of two seperate room units, side-by-side, and although these don't have inter-leading doors, they can also be useful for larger families, who wish to be close together.
In terms of camp layout the rooms are found intimately squeezed into gaps in the thick indigenous riverine vegetation along the banks of the Lusushwana River not far downstream of Mantenga Waterfall. Some units have views of the falls, others of the river, which has Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary as its backdrop on the opposite side. All offer an opportunity to commune with nature, with balconies to sit on, and beautiful trees all around. The atmosphere around the cottages is tranquil and relaxing with sandy walking paths leading to and from the restaurant and central facilities.
